One of today's Daily Challenges is "Complete 50 squares in a kana crossword". Any tips on how to pick an easier way to complete this challenge?
Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you having a hard time remembering the words when using them outside of quizzes? In that case, more practice is the way to go – as well as trying to change the way you go through the vocab questions by thinking of the answer before you look at the choices, setting a delay before the choices appear, or using the "type the answer when possible" setting.
You could also try a crosswords for a vocab schedule you're sure you know very well, something basic.
Other than that, can't think of anything. The daily challenges are there to motivate us to practice more, so it hasn't occurred to me to look for easier ways to do them. :))
LE: The idea just came to me now: maybe you mean "how can I get the challenge to only ask for 20 squares instead of 50"? In that case, you can't edit individual challenges (that's sort of the point of them being challenges), buy you can choose which types of challenges get offered to you by editing them in the menu.
Thanks for your response. Yes, I found the 50 squares quite challenging for someone who tried it the first time! I ended up picking one with N5-level words, consulting dictionaries, and eventually finishing it. Although it took me a while, it was definitely a step in the right direction toward expanding my vocabulary.
Oh, so that was it! Congrats, glad you succeeded. It gets easier each time, I promise.
The crosswords are a great way to "activate" vocabulary and get out of that frustrating situation where you have a 90% success rate in a schedule, but if someone asks "cool, so how do you say 'ice' in Japanese?" your brain flatlines.

Thanks for your encouragement. Hope it will get easier.
