ive been doing words for japanese basics for a while but whenever i did it i would just write down the word to look at later and never did also writing it down seemed like an endless chore, never remembering so i restarted the schedual to acctually learn the words so im wandering what ways you do to learn and remember words like do you look and remember write it down ect???????

"endless chore" is pretty accurate because that's 100% true. and...

you must do it every day, according to a schedule, until you memorize it.


My approach is to be consistent and practice every day. It's better to have a small number of new words per day and practice the old ones a lot.

There are words that will simply make sense the first time you hear it, and then there are words that you will keep on getting wrong even after months. But at some point, even those words will stick. The important thing is to DO YOUR REVIEWS DAILY. There is no special trick to it except daily studying. (And daily immersion too of course)

I think the best way to remember those "icky words", or the ones that dont "stick" even after many months, is to study it as often as possible. makes it super groovy super fast.
