Is it okay to post song links as mnemonics or maybe it counts as an advertisement there? There are a bunch of songs that helped me memorise some words, but I've only once seen someone putting a song link into mnemonics section, so i'm not sure if it's okay to share them

You should not post content that violates copyright. A website that hosts pirated material is subject to shutdown and seizure by law enforcement, and nobody wants that.

The fair use exception applies to criticism, parody, and educational use. To qualify, extracts should be no longer than necessary to achieve their stated purpose.

I don't know what the rules are either but personally, I'd welcome it. I also find songs often help me remember Japanese. I don't believe posting a link to a youtube video would violate copyright. Btw what's an example of a song that helped you memorise something?

(The following is just my understanding of the legality of linking to third-party content)

Posting a link is very different from hosting or uploading the content. For YouTube, the content is already hosted with the rights holder's permission (in the case of official uploads), so linking is basically just directing traffic to the licensed source. There's also nothing to "justify" under fair use, because you're not using the copyrighted work in the legal sense at all — you're just pointing to where it exists. There are edge cases, but they don't apply here.

Public notes on Renshuu get approved before they're visible to other users, so you're unlikely to cause any issues, if that's what you're worried about.

An alternative could be to just share the song title and maybe the specific line that helped you remember the word. You don't necessarily need to link the video. Ironically, this would actually be "more infringing" than a link to the source, but likely fall under fair use or de minimis.

PS: Unless you're actively pushing paywalled content, the "direct advertising" rule doesn't apply here.

Thank you for your reply! Some i can think of now: マネマネサイコトロピック for the word まね and Looping the Rooms for くりかえす

Thank you so much for the in-depth answer! I think I understand it better now. It's nice to know that mnemonics are approved, so I guess moderators would tell me if I'll accidentally post something I shouldn't.... I was thinking of linking YouTube videos, yes, I'll also make sure to only share official uploads
