There's been a couple discussions about Duolingo vs Renshuu, but I haven't seen anyone discuss Anki vs Renshuu. In terms of straight vocab, and maybe kanji, what are your opinions on the two?
Anki is subjective, requiring the user to make a judgement about whether they know the answer and how well. Renshuu tries to avoid that, although certain things, like writing, still involve self-grading.
I see renshuu as an implementation of the same spaced repetition concept Anki popularized but with Japanese-specialized features like sentences, user explanations on words, JPLT quizzes and voiceover which would be hard to match as that is a huge amount of contributions
Anki is a very generic flashcard system (not even language focused) so the quality depends on the user who assembled the deck. I briefly used it for Swedish but didn't like it. Worst of all, no Kao-coins.
Should be equal in content as you can upload user lists to renshuu too
