This only happens recently, I have never seen this in my nearly four years with renshuu. Another user posted somewhere else about the same problem, also with Kanji quiz but was given a wishy washy non solution by another user (the only time on renshuu I wish there is a dislike or downvote button). I am not interested in changing my quiz options but I cannot get rid of the problem kanji(s) because I simply cannot find it / them. In case like the screenshot I showed you, I need to click a few more buttons to do focus review instead of just one click, so it is not a fatal bug, it is just really annoying.
Sorry. I know I disappointed you, but you really are going to have to work with Michael on this one.
New users who get this message probably have created some internal inconsistency by messing with their settings, but for long time users like you and me, the most likely culprit is that the data in the dictionary has changed and doesn’t match your schedule anymore.
Based on what happened to me, my guess is that you have partially mastered a reading that has been removed from the dictionary. That reading is now up for review, but when renshuu tries to build your quiz it fails because that reading no longer exists.
I found a "solution". On PC browser (not Android) I can access those problematic kanji by clicking on the number before the words "to review" under the title of the schedule. Then I clicked on each kanji and added at least one kunyomi reading. The annoying notice went away and I got quizzed on the, guess what, kunyomi reading of those kanji. One thing I noted is that all of those kanji seem to have only kunyomi marked with "X", if that helped.
It looks like your account is still on the old, legacy setting for "kanji reading filter" under Kanji in settings. This system is no longer being maintained, and while I cannot say exactly what changed to cause this to come up, I am fairly confident that it is tied to something with this system.
Specifically, it seems in most cases, that the user (like yourself) has it set to hide kanji rare readings. At the same time, on most of the "ghost" kanji, it tends to be the case that a rare reading has been marked as known, confusing the older system.
The newer system does a MUCH better job of handling cases like this. For you (and most people), if you're willing to give the new system a try, I'd recommend "no extra readings" as the option to choose.

To clarify, I was not referring to your post. It was a post from another user who said something about the problem going away after making another list or some nonsense.
I am having this bug or a similar one. I am on the old pre-2025 kanji system and I've had one phantom kanji for a few days. I thought it was just a visual bug but I found out it's broken my streak :( The kanji in question is this... I am not sure why it says the kunyomi is "none" when it is used as 淑やか. So I'm not sure what's going on and if the bug is with the kanji or with my settings.
Something with the "recent" (a month or two ago) readings update on the kanji database caused some kind of break between the data and those on the older system. What is happening in most cases is that the user has "don't show rare readings" selected for their account, but they do have a rare reading marked as known for the problematic kanji (most likely due to a word they studied that contained the kanji).
While I would ideally be able to dig into this and fix this, it is a legacy system that was already riddled with lots of weird bugs and edge cases, and was why I moved to the newer set of kanji reading filters, so I could (with 15 years of experience) build a system that makes a lot more sense internally, and is more robust.
What I've done with everyone else is to suggest you move off of the old system and choose one of the new ones. For most people, the "no extra readings" will be closest to what they were experiencing before.
