Honestly, when I do my Japanese basics quizzes, I forget practically everything. I did write them down for a time, and everytime I answer a question, I read out the correct word. I think i'm doing everything fine, besides maybe lack of experience. Anyone have tips or smth like that?
Are you doing any additional reading/listening? It's very difficult to acquire vocabulary through quizzes alone.
You can grab some level appropriate graded readers [Tadoku Books], and find some basic Japanese content on YouTube (for learners). Frequent exposure is the key to remembering vocab. It's also great for building up your passive vocabulary.
PS: Language learning takes a very long time, and forgetting things is normal. I frequently forget how to read certain words and feel like an idiot :D

Thank you! I don't really know how to find a lot of these, and my mom doesn't let me use YouTube
Otherwise, this was very helpful and made a lot of sense
Maybe you could use flashcards for your vocab. Use Apps like Anki and copy paste your vocabs when learning new ones. If you dont want that you can create your own cards on paper. But you have to listen to the language too, so watch a view N5 easy japanese videos. I hope that helps.
1. Your pacing might be too fast
2. Maybe you don't understand some of them, really? What I mean is, think if you're able to use the word in a sentence. If you are not sure, how (whether is because of grammar or meanong), learn more about this particular term. Renshuu notes are helpful, but you will get a lot more by googling it.
3. I think that focusing more on each word separately for a while is good? Idk, I'm too lazy to use this myself.
4.Every time you learn a word, make a few sentences and repeat them/the word in your head thorough the day. Works best when context is aligns ? This method is rather popular, you say for example "I am cleaning" in targeted language while cleaning.
5. Learn vocabulary you are interested in. Of course it's not very helpful if you're learning for an exam, but if you actually want to learn Japanese, you are not going to regret this anyway.
Dont know whoch ones y o u need. And wht is the reason you can't watch YouTube. But maybe you would be allowed to watch a selection of videos/channels?

Honestly, all of these helped a lot. Thank you!! And I can't use YouTube because my mom thinks everything on there is garbage
. She lets me watch skz code on there though (grudgingly) so I probably could just ask.. Do you have any recommendations on who to watch?
Hi! I practice Japanese listening watching videos on this website: cijapanese.com Your mom might let you try it out, because it’s a self contained site with only videos for Japanese learning. There’s a paid version where you get access to more videos, but there are tons of free ones you can watch as well. I recommend sorting by “easy” and watching the first Complete Beginner videos first! I really like picking up new words from watching the videos, then I reinforce them here in Renshuu with the vocab and kanji SRS. It really helps me solidify those words! I also love the Tadoku books site that ギョルギ九十三 linked to above. I agree that seeing/hearing words in context is super important for actually remembering and internalizing them! Best of luck to you!
These are some of "mine's". Mostly ones for immersion.
Mochi Real Japanese offers lots of listening exercises, mostly N5 and some N4. It uses casual language as well as polite.
on いろいろな日本語 - I watch reading of Yotsuba manga which explains every sentence step-by step (and It's all in Japanese, but possible to understand!)
The one I can't omit when recommending for Japanese. Kaname Naito is probably the best one out there. He explains everything very professionally and with detail. More for grammar, not for immersion, though there are many well-written real life conversations included.
Waku Waku Japanese has lots of short drama made for learners.
I listen to podcast on Ninjapanese, but there are lots of other podcasts too.
im still a beginner but reading manga in the original japanese has been helping me read kana faster and remember words and kanji readings too. most of the ones i found online have furigana even for the common kanji so maybe that could be useful
