I've always found super annoying that you can't set max items to 0 because of you do it removes the limit altogether. We already have a checkbox if we don't want a limit to exist, why not allowing users to set the max items to 0?

You can set new items to 0 in the schedule settings or

set the Pace to Review to get 0 new terms for a schedule.

Both of these approaches will achieve the same result.

I'm not sure I follow: both your request and the suggested solution is done for each schedule, so it seems to me that setting it to review should be sufficient.

My requested solution is to have a way to set the number of new items to 0 for word or Kanji schedules, and not for individual schedules. If I have 20 kanji decks, I want to be able to change the number of new kanji cards for all decks at once. There's already a setting for this but it doesn't work as expected (IMO) as you can't set the value to 0.

Got it. While I can consider that in the future, it is not something I can easily add on at the moment.

Understood, thank you. Is there any reason why 0 acts as Null in this case?

Just happens to be the way that it was originally coded in, and I've never changed it since :)

Just in case this is a useful data point: this issue forced me to completely restructure my study method and it has caused me significant frustration. As both an active and paying user, I don't understand why fixing such a clearly defined bug is not a priority. This problem may lead me to ditching Renshuu altogether. While I'm sure the app will do perfectly fine without me, I'm personally very sad about this prospect, as I had grown very fond of it.

Are you referring to the zero/null issue on individual schedules, or the "set once for all settings" request?

I'm referring to the fact these two settings cannot be set to 0:

Thank you for the clarification - it was a bit different from what I had in my head. I'll see what I can do.

However, I kindly request that you consider that for any given bug/friction/frustration within renshuu, regardless of how clearly defined from a user perspective, there are architectural decisions that may make something trivial to change, or may make it just short of impossible. This architecture is hidden from the user, but is still present due to decisions (some good, some bad) that I've made over the literally 20 years I've spent working on the code in renshuu.

From "easy to change/fix" to "almost impossible", this issue is somewhere in the middle, possibly a bit to closer to the "hard" end of the scale. It is most likely at least 5-10 hours to fix in a best-case scenario, and most likely much more than that.

The majority of the settings for schedules were not established when schedules were first made, but were slowly added over time (10+ years) onto an already existing architecture. In other words, it's far from clean and organized, and I suspect there are several different spots I'd need to adjust that would affect 10s of thousands of weekly users. Some users have most definitely internalized this quirky behavior, and so having 0 = "don't study" will, without a doubt, result in me receiving some number of messages from other users, and even more users who don't say anything, but just think to themselves "renshuu is getting buggy."

This is in addition to all the other work I do on renshuu as the only person behind the scenes here. I will be forever grateful for paying users, as I could not do renshuu without you/them, but there is no support implied or otherwise as part of the paid subscription. Instead, I strive to address the issues of all users, paid and free. I try to balance my time across all users, features, bugs, etc., and so while it can certainly be frustrating, I always hope to fix all issues, but the reality is that is impossible, and so I ask for patience in looking into issues, determining *if* they can be fixed, the scope of the issue (how many people are affected), and where it goes in the work order
