How would you spell the name Miitri in katakana? Im having a hard time coming up with how youd even say that "in japanese". For context, we are from Finland, and the R sound we use is very RRRR, if that makes sense.

We're planning our honeymoon to Japan (not for a couple or years tho, gotta finish my studies first etc.) and I think it might motivate him to learn with me if i got his name spelled in katakana. Thanks for anyone who reads, love from Finland <3

To be honest there is no "tri" sound in kana or hiragana but I I translate it, it says "ぎ" but you say it like "Tome tsugi"

I wouldn't know anything about Finland because I'm in America and I'm only twelve but I hope I helped a bit.

To answer my own question, ChatGPT suggested ミートリ, which would be closest in pronounciation, I think. Thinking about the trip, I think it would be useful to know how to spell one's name just in case :)

Foreign names aren't translated into Japanese, they're just written as phonetically as possible in katakana. So, like ChatGPT said, in this case it's ミートリ. Also, don't reveal your age on the internet, or you'll get creeps bothering you about it.

+1 for what @ansair said, calling yourself 留め継ぎ would be funny though. Like if your name is Claire, but GT though you meant to say "chair" and gave you 椅子 😂

I can't think of anything better than ミートリ either. @Hammitus Good luck with your studies and have fun on your trip!

Another option would be ミーツリ. You’ll have to judge for yourself which one is a better approximation to the correct sounds.
