Probably for most people and beginner (later it's easier when you know more kanji for example). But at the same time, "Everyone has their own pace." like ansair said.
You need to try and find your own pace. If in a few weeks, it become too much, you're starting to make too much mistake or if you're not even finishing your schedule, then yeah. Just pay attention to those sign. And at that point you can simply not learn new word for a few week.
If you feel like it's going too fast for you, you can go to your schedule settings to change the number of new terms introduced each day or set a weekly limit. You can also change the max number of terms you review every day in the same settings. On another note, if you feel like you're keeping up with it just fine, then I wouldn't bother changing anything. I was learning the max amount when I first started, but now that I have several schedules and other apps that I'm studying daily, I lowered the number of terms I learn and review every day.
