Japanese from Zero follows a gradual less formal approach, and is intended for people learning on their own. The videos on you tube are a great supplement for it.
Genki follows a faster paced, and a more formal/academic approach, and is intended for people learning in a classroom (with exercises with other classmates).
Which set of books is right for you depends on you. I'd suggest finishing the first book and seeing if you're still happy with it. If so, stick with that set of books. If not, switch.
