I have been doing hiragana schedule from December I think, and I started Katakana on maybe like April. Since that I have seen that in the Katakana schedule the mastery is continuously going up; as in there are terms every day to review so as to bring up their mastery. But this is not the case in my Hiragana schedule despite it being started before my Katakana schedule. The mastery of katakana terms have surpassed the mastery levels of hiragana terms. Is there a way to up the mastery level?
Due to this some of my hiragana terms are still stuck on level 4! Even my the mastery of my kanji terms is going up.
Well, you can do focused reviews and focus on kana with lowest mastery
I hope this helps!
I have been doing that everyday, but focused review actually does not brings the mastery up but only brings down when u do a wrong question as micheal said . ;( But thanx anyways
Have you checked the advanced settings for those two schedules?
From my understanding past level 3, mastery only goes up when the term in question is ready to be studied again. No matter how much you review a term it won't go up in mastery.
I added every Hiragana and Katakana list to a schedule for fun (about a month ago) and they've been gaining mastery at more or less the same rate.
So I understood the Study style...Mastery level spacing you say? You mean if I answer correctly to the hiragana terms ( Not in focused review ) normally in Review that appears daily the mastery level goes up and after that certain day it returns again for the mastery level to be raised? In normal quiz nothing will happen?
Also the thing you said about adding terms to a list ( in the community lists ) will increase its mastery??
These are my mastery level of all terms..
So, when you study terms outside of a Schedule (for example from the Community Lists) they can only go up to a mastery level of 3.
To go past 3 you add them to a Schedule (you can add a whole list, merge schedules, add single terms, etc.)
When in a Schedule terms follow a "Spaced repetition" system (similar to Anki). Any time they go up in mastery you have to wait a certain amount of time before they can up again.
The Mastery level spacing determines how long you have to wait before a terms naturally show up again (to be studied for mastery). I assume you haven't touched it so every Schedule should have the same spacing.
Can you give some more information about your Schedules? Also, if you have 2 separate schedules for Hiragana and Katakana you can probably jut merge them into one.
Hmmm, わかりました!
In my hiragana schedule, I have kept the pace as zoom
These are the details, SO if I merge terms of both katakana and hiragana their mastery would rise?
This is the hiragana one
This is the katakana one.
How could it be that my katakana schedule that I started like 4 months from my hiragana schedule is surpassing the hiragana one?
This is the katakana one, and I just saw all the terms are above 50 of my katakana schedule !
Could it be that I have added more vectors in my hiragana schedule than katakana one?
these are the vectors;
Katakana : Kana = meaning, meaning=kana, listening questions->definition
Hiragana : use sentence questions, Kana = meaning, meaning=kana, Pitch/accent questions( Idk why questions of pitch dont come)
Hmm, I don't really see a problem with either of them. You can probably just study terms as they naturally come up and your mastery should go up. You can also merge them into one Schedule for Kana. I'm only suggesting that because you probably know them well enough already and don't need to study them separately.
If you've made too many mistakes when reviewing your Hiragana schedule that might be why your mastery is down. Not sure.
Yeah, it might be a difference in Study Style, not sure. Although for kanji you still get the same amount of mastery, it just give you more to study (more vectors) when they come up for review.
I made wrong questions in focused review like maybe 2-3 and then immediately correct them
Whats your status with the hiragana terms?
Although for kanji you still get the same amount of mastery, it just give you more to study (more vectors) when they come up for review.
The only schedule that is behind is the Hiragana one, even though it's the First one I started ! All the students have surpassed the master I think .
Whats your status with the hiragana terms?
All of my kana is around 50%, but I already knew kana before I joined so I just folded them into a schedule for fun and a bit of EXP.
How long is it gonna take to make them all 100%..I asked this question very while ago and the user said 1 year.
Assuming level 9 is 100% and you make no mistakes, it should just be 462 days right? Highest I have are level 8 terms.
Grammar seems to go up way faster though.
Edit: if you get level 3 in one day, it would be 457. Assuming my Math checks out
Anyway, we've spammed a bit too much, so I'll stop and we can wait for someone else to add something.
Hmm..lets see what I can do
Edit : I changed the mastery spacing day settings to 5 days ( each of them ) and after that I did 2 focused review of 40 questions and suddenly all of their mastery raised up.
Yeah, that's how it works. You can even set the mastery for individual terms to whatever level you want (disqualifies you from the leaderboard, whatever that means). I would't mess with those too much, you're supposed to be learning not gaming the system for mastery.
If you just wanted to "finish" kana, it's fine to just kinda set their mastery to 100% or mess with the spacing. I'm not sure what it would do to your account's stats though.
