For me 凸 is the more interesting of the two. It gets used quite a bit within streaming/gaming culture. For example 凸待ち or using duplicates to limit-break/strengthen a character in gacha games. Shorthand that came from limit-break systems, simplified over time. 限界突破 → 限突 → 限凸 → 凸.
I think it's X凸 = total duplicates burned, but don't quote me on that.
This made realize I need to pay more attention to 突. Maybe I should call it my favorite. I mean, really, cave dog? What’s not to like about that?

To answer your question 旺文社漢字典第四版 and 漢字源 (you can use them with yomitan too). You can also type 解字 (litteraly explanation of a kanji) on the internet.
As for the kanji, I think I like 気? Because it's very versatile kanji and also tied to asian culture in general I also like 紅 but just because of 紅葉 (because of the scenery). And also 訳 because of わけ (not sure how to explain why).

Once I'm done with the jouyou and/or I manage to find more time to work on my conversation skill, I will like them again xD
