I have a schedule where all of the terms are at the level 8 mastery level and I want to freeze the schedule until the reviews are ready. Will freezing the schedule influence the 'countdown' until the terms are ready to be reviewed again?

Yes, freezing a schedule completely pauses the mastery system, so if you freeze a schedule when you have e.g. 30 days until a word is ready to be reviewed, it should still take 30 days after you unfreeze the schedule for it to become ready to study.

I have a related question regarding freezing a schedule - when I freeze a grammar schedule that has a number of the same grammar points that are in one of my other schedules, would it pause the review intervals for them as well? So, for example, I have Genki 1 grammar schedule as well as Renshuu N5 grammar schedule that share some of the grammar points -> I freeze Genki 1 schedule but keep doing Renshuu schedule -> when I unfreeze the Genki schedule will the mastery levels of the shared grammar be changed?

Every term in renshuu (voc, kanji, grammar, sentences) has it’s own mastery. Every time you get better at a term, the mastery goes up. The mastery defines the repetition interval.

Schedules live as a learning system on top of that. They are basically a clever quizzing tool.

So if you have a term in multiple schedules you change it’s mastery by doing quizzes. If you freeze a schedule, the mastery of terms can still change by learning it in a different schedule.

You can observe that quite well, when you add a new schedule and find the overall mastery of words in that schedule to be, for instance, 23% right from the start. The terms to repeat immediatly will as well depend on that.

You can also observe that learning a term in one schedule might reduce the number of terms to be repeated in other schedules.

So if you actually want to pause a term across all schedules, you could „hide“ it. That way it“s left out eveywhere. You can easily find all hidden terms and unhide them again.

That's what I intially thought - thanks for reassuring me that's how it actually works. I was a little worried that freezing a schedule might freeze the review interval of overlaping terms in other schedules, so it's good tonknow that's not the case.
